ABOUT THE TOUR

The largest synagogue in the Czech Republic, the second largest in Europe and one of the five largest in the world, it is built in a pseudo-Romanesque style with Moorish elements. A unique building from the second half of the 19th century with rich interior decoration is now presented in its full beauty and you can be there. Take a guided tour of the Great Synagogue with a visit to the rabbinical house or a climb up one of its towers.

During the guided tour, you will learn about the construction and reconstruction of the synagogue, as well as the history of the Jewish community in Plzeň, and you will also see the new permanent exhibition Here the Jews Lived. You will have a look into the rabbinical house and get acquainted with the mikveh ritual bath.

• Guided tours of the synagogue take place on Wednesdays until 3:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 10:30 a.m.
• Tours in January and February do not include climbing the tower.
• The tour lasts 75 minutes and is not suitable for children under 6 years old.
• Tours take place only in the Czech language.
• Partially disabled access.
