ABOUT THE PLAY

An intimate piece of theatre for two actresses, it explores the fears of pregnancy and coming to terms with one’s emerging sexuality.

The feelings and states of mind of the two unnamed main female characters in that strange period between puberty and the onset of adulthood. A period full of confusion, looking for one’s way, lack of understanding, (self-)destruction, asking questions and redefining the world because the childhood world perspective doesn't work any more and the adult world one doesn't work yet. A sophisticated play with words evoking unexpected associations manages to symptomatically capture difficult-to-express feelings even in a small space, yet in a playful way with a good dose of humour that lightens the otherwise difficult topics into unsentimental and unpathetic tones.

The text was awarded 2nd place in the 2019 Evald Schorm Prize competition.

About the theatre:

The Puppet Theatre Ostrava is a professional stage for children and young people from the whole Moravian-Silesian region. The founder of this scene is the Statutory City of Ostrava.

The Puppet Theatre Ostrava performs for kindergartens, primary and secondary school pupils, families with children and adults. The Puppet Theatre Ostrava also produces high quality art education programmes developed by the husband-and-wife team of Hana and Tomáš Volkmer. The theatre organizes the summer festival Pimprléto and of the biannual International Festival of Puppet Theatre Spectaculo Interesse.
