About the theatre:

The theatre, founded in Pilsen in 1930 by Prof. Josef Skupa, has been based in Prague since 1945. The puppets of Spejbl, Hurvínek, Mánička, Mrs. Kateřina and the dog Žeryk have been enjoying success at home and abroad for several decades. The company develops Skupa's artistic legacy, seeking to combine traditional puppetry with modern puppet theatre, emphasizing the continuity of tradition and maintaining the marionette school, which, thanks to their efforts, too, remains a living part of Czech theatre culture, and is currently discovering its new face through collaborations with prominent modern theatre makers. Spejbl and Hurvínek are winners of the prestigious Thalia Theatre Award 2012.
